A home sauna is a long-term investment. It needs to be built correctly the first time, with materials that hold up and construction details that prevent moisture from getting into the structure. We manage every part of the build in-house, from design and permitting through framing, electrical, and finish carpentry. You get a fixed estimate before work begins, daily updates throughout, and a 1-year workmanship warranty when the job is done.
We build authentic Finnish saunas with a kiuas heater, sauna stones, loyly bench layout, and wood-burning or electric heat.
We build custom indoor saunas into spare rooms, basements, and bathrooms with correct insulation, vapor barriers, and ventilation.
We design and build outdoor sauna structures on concrete or paver bases with weatherproof cladding and full electrical installation.
We install full-spectrum infrared sauna rooms with low-EMF panels, smart temperature controls, and precision-framed enclosures.
The wood inside a sauna absorbs heat, withstands repeated humidity cycles, and makes direct contact with bare skin. Material selection is a performance decision, not a finish choice. RP Restoration specifies Western Red Cedar for its natural moisture resistance and aromatic warmth, Nordic Spruce for its clean grain and dimensional stability, and Thermowood for outdoor builds and high-use installations where maximum durability is required.
Building a sauna on the Bay Area Peninsula requires materials and construction details matched to the local climate. Coastal fog, salt air, and thermal cycling accelerate wood degradation when the specification is wrong. We use Thermowood for all outdoor cladding, Western Red Cedar for indoor benches and walls, and detail every vapor barrier on the warm side of the insulation. These are not upgrades. They are the baseline on every project we build.
We visit the site, review electrical capacity, identify ventilation and drainage requirements, and document full scope before any estimate is issued.

Yes. Electric heaters require a dedicated 240V circuit and an electrical permit. Structural builds and outdoor installations require a building permit from the relevant county.
Most indoor sauna projects run 4 to 8 weeks. Outdoor builds or those requiring structural work and permits typically run 8 to 14 weeks from design to final inspection.

RP Restoration provides a 1-year workmanship warranty on all sauna work. Manufacturer material warranties are documented in your project closeout package.
